Irresistible Force ( K9 Rescue) by D. D. Aryes

Hello to all!!

i'm late again to post this but fortunately it's still the week i needed to post in and it's still august as well so all together i'm not that late ^^. It's just that since we are really starting to take care of my mother to help her recover fully from her stroke i spent the week between the doctor's appointments and call for more.

Now, it's finally the weekend and i hope i will manage to have a little time for me but before i can indulge in some reading and ice cream  i wanted to share one more review for August with you.  Usually during summer, i'm reading more romance suspense however this year aliens took over so it was time to go back to that genre that i enjoy a lot.

Today i'm sharing with you my opinion on a new to me author and a new series the K9 Rescue series

 Happy reading.

Short description from goodreads :

When adrenaline runs high, so does the force of desire…

For Shay Appleton, it’s love at first sight when a gorgeous stray dog is brought into the animal shelter where she works. She just knows he’ll make a terrific watch dog—and with an abusive ex who won’t let go, she needs all the protection she can get. But Shay never suspected that her new pet is actually a trained police K-9 named Bogart—until Bogart’s even more gorgeous, human partner shows up on her doorstep.

Officer James Cannon is one tall, strong alpha male who’s convinced that Shay stole his dog. But once he gets closer to the suspect, he realizes that this stubborn, independent woman not only needs a guard dog, she needs James as well. It seems that someone from her past is stalking her, and threatening her life. When danger meets desire, will James risk his career and his best friend…to protect the woman who’s stolen his heart?

My opinion:
It was a classic romance suspense not really original but still enjoyable...somehow i expected better though. I had a little difficulty to connect with the characters or more exactly with some of their actions even if with some explanations later they become easier to understand i still don’t agree with them.  The way Shay jumps on James when she still knows nearly nothing about him and so soon  just  is something i don’t like, yes i understand her but it doesn’t sit well with me.
That aside she is a courageous woman, more than she thinks.

James.. for a police officer is certainly acts strange at first ( even more when he tells others he is a “by the book officer” but his love for Bogart is really cute and i loved how protective, but not overly so, he is of Shay. His persistence paid off.

Now Bogart aka prince, i guess he is the biggest motivation i had for reading this book. He is so intelligent and cute and the fact he is a Belgian breed just makes it even better. However i think i would have loved if he could bring a little more humour in the story... there is some little elements here and there but not as many as it could have been.
What disappointed me the most i guess is that i didn’t feel like all the villains got what they deserved...we know that some past ones got completely free and other get off really too easily.. i wanted them to suffer more. To justice to be really given this time.

So it’s a good romance suspense if you want an easy reads for the summer for example and if you love dog, it’s one you really can try.

How to date an Alien ( My Alien romance1) by Magan Vernon

Hello to all!

for this week review i'm back to the trend that i unconsciously started some weeks ago: the paranormal romance including alien(s).....i'm now free of it but i did read several that i wanted to share with you before changing again. I have been surprised to own so many alien romance (ranging from PG to erotic ones) and i have been enjoying reading several of them in a row to change a little from shifters who stay my favourite.

Today i'm sharing with you one of the softest alien romance i've read and enjoyed this summer, if you are lucky you could even grab the digital copy free on smashwords ( and perhaps on amazon but i can't guaranty it as it depends on where you live). The series is even complete so  if you want more you could indulge it this summer without delay.

Happy reading!

Source: paperback but the digital ebook is free on smashwords

Short description from goodreads :

High school senior Alex Bianchi's estranged father gets her an internship at Circe Operations Center to pad her college applications. But Circe isn't your typical military base. It's an alien-run operation center and not all of the aliens are friendly, especially the one that tries to kill Alex on her first day. When Ace, a dark-eyed Caltian, enters and saves the day, she can't help but be drawn to him. Can these star-crossed lovers survive when they're on the brink of intergalactic war?

My opinion:
Somehow i’m finding myself reading more paranormal roamnce with aliens than i imagined owning, this time i picked a YA one and Magan Vernon did a great job i think  to create a univers quite fun with a whole range of aliens of all colors and kind (  i’m still smilling at the idea of the orange “plush” one) and the story  while not fully original  still give you a great time as teh author  is making a comparaison between the aliens organisation and an high school social division

I wanted a light read  this summer and this one is just perfect in that sense... there are things that don’t make sense because really  what kind of father would bring his chil  to confront aliens without telling her about it a minimum, without ghiving her a list of what to do or not to do BEFORE she encounters the first one. Yes it’s a secret operation but still.... so yes that parts and some other don’t make sense but at the same time it didn’t bother me at all as i was fully enjoying the story. I would have loved to get a little more of the alien side about teh situation in Circe because for the majority of the book we have the main Hero Ace, the doctor and then some other that speak a little but it’s mostly from  Alex side and the interns ( bad Riley and malcom!)’ one so majoritary human.

Alex is an heroine to like as she is intelligent and still quite naive but also determined when it comes to her love and friends.. she is a normal human girl who prefer to study than to hang out and i could easily related with her and imagine her situation. Ace on the other side is still very mysterious we don learn part of his past, his identity but  that’s so little!

The story is quite fast paced but it’s a rythm that works wonderfully with this story so i would be curious to follow up this series as i’m sure there is still a lot to learn ( book 2 and 3 are already available) So if you want a fun and enjoyable reads  this is one that could be great to try especially if you can try it for free ^^

Furever After ( Southern Shifters) by Michelle Fox

Hello to all!!

I have been luck to get a arc of Michelle Fox new book " Furever After" which is released today and i couldn't miss to share my opinion on it with you without delay.

 Enjoy!!!

Description from goodreads :

Staying safe means killing her wolf…

Piper Oakes is done with being a shifter and doing whatever she can to jettison her wolf. If she doesn’t, her alpha will force her to be his mate, even though they have no bond. In an effort to force her obedience, he’s taken everything from her—family, friends and any sense of safety she ever had. There’s no reason for her to be a wolf anymore and every reason to walk away.

Saving her wolf is his only chance at love…

Doctor Jaxon Comyn has never met a wolf who could be his mate. To fill the void of living alone, he throws himself into the study of human medical science. When Piper comes into his life, it’s his one shot at having it all, but claiming her as his mate means taking on both her alpha…and his.

Welcome to Eliza Gayle's Southern Shifters series, where alphas move heaven and earth for their ‘happily furever afters.’

Note this is a novella, not a novel. Longer than a short story, shorter than a novel. While it’s a good idea (and lots of fun!) to read Bad Kitty by Eliza Gayle, it’s not required. This story stands alone with no cliffhanger and an HEA ending.

My opinion:
Really great. I have been wanting to read something from this author for a long time and i’m so glad i got the opportunity to read this novella in exchange for a review.  I haven’t read anything in this universe before  me tell you that this won’t be the last.

I had absolutly no problem  understand the world and the story despite this being my first introduction to it. It’s really a stand alone well done with  little tibits about the rest of the series making you want to discover more to deepen your knowledge and joy but you aren’t lost at all if you are new to it.

It’s a novella so the rythm is quite rapid but not overly so and Piper and Jaxon do get to know a little about each other before the romance really strikes i really loved that. Piper has been fleeing since little , we don’t know exactly how long and that’s something i would have liked to know to understand her even more as well as her situation. She is independant and terribly afraid which is pergfectly understandable after what she suffered... as a result she doesn’t want to be a shifter anymore so she is trying to stay in the human world because in this world the wolfshifetrs need to stay together and near nature to keep their energy/ magic to the  fullest..... ...when apart from the clan for too long one would start to feel sick. For Piper it’s even worse, she is dying when she meets Jaxon.

Jaxon is a wolf shifter from another clan who wants to be a doctor so he has permission to live outside the
clan to study and work but he is still part of it and goes back as soon as possible. When he sees Piper, he is drawn to help her but he doesn’t get the real deeper reason. He is a good and loyal man, i really liked him. I think is personnality is perfect for Piper

The intrigue is simple is the  sense that we do know the bad one from the start and we know what he wants.... however  i didn’t understand how his clan allowed him to act like that....i mean he has nothiong of the
alpha safe from the strengh perhaps....that’s the part tht bothered me a little i guess that no one tried to interfere , to exile him or something....
However the resolution  takes unexpected turns so you are turning the pages until the last one hoping for Piper and Jaxon happiness and to see the villain punished as he derserves it.

This is really a excellent novella and i would be happy to read more in this universe.

Score:  3/5
