Big Bad Bite Returned ( Big Bad Bite 2.5) by Jessie Lane

 Hello to all ,

i'm happy to participe today in the release event for Big Bad Bite Returned by Jessie Lane as i did love and review the precedent books not long ago.
So now all the info and then my review.

happy reading!
Title: Big Bite Returned
Series: Big Bite Series #2.5
Author: Jessie Lane
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2017

Jenna O’Conner and Adam McPhee are happily mated … Or are they?
While Jenna happily wears Adam’s mating mark, she has yet to give Adam one in return.
Adam doesn’t want to pressure his mate, but not receiving one is starting to wear on him.
After Jenna is attacked while on the job as a SWAT officer, they are forced to reevaluate their relationship.
The time has come. Jenna needs to decide if her mate is going to get the big bad bite.

*This is a 10,000 word short story that takes place after Big Bad Bite and Walk On The Striped Side!*
“Have you heard the news?”
Adam’s gaze was glued to Jenna’s moving lips, from where she had her chin perched on his chest. Warm amber eyes, lazy from their love making, watched her inquisitively, waiting for her to finish.

“Gage knocked his mate up.”
The left side of Adam’s lips kicked up in a grin, and he mumbled, “Poor guy.”
It was her turn to be amused. She was about to lay the other half of the story down and knew exactly how Adam would react.
“He did it on purpose, Adam.”
It didn’t take long for his eyes to bug out of his head, and those perfect lips that she loved so much dropped open in aghast. “Why in the hell would he do that?”
Jenna snorted in amusement at her mate’s look of horror. “Careful. If anyone in the pack hears you talking like that, they’re going to think you’re against having kids.”
Strong fingers stroked through her hair, and Jenna’s sense of contentedness magnified. She loved these moments when it was just her and her mate, shutting the world out.
“You and I both know that’s not the case. I love the idea of us having pups one day. Just not right now.”
In a move so lightning quick it had her head spinning, Adam flipped Jenna onto her back on the bed. Spreading her thighs wide, he snuggled their hips together so she could feel his rejuvenated hard length against her sex. She couldn’t stop the moan that escaped her as Adam rocked it up and down her clit, which was still sensitive from the earth-shattering sex they had just finished a few minutes ago.
“You’re trying to kill me,” Jenna moaned.
Adam leaned down and nipped her lip. “Never. Killing you would defeat my master plan of fucking you stupid every day.”
She couldn’t help laughing at his blunt words. It was so like her mate to think with his dick. She knew she owned all of him, including his heart. That didn’t mean she wasn’t going to tease him for being such a man.
“I see how it is. You only want me for my body.”
He ran his lips down her neck to the spot on her shoulder where he had given her his mate mark and kissed it. It was something Adam did all the time, as if he was paying homage to the spot on her body that made her his. “Wrong again, mate. I want to own all of you.”
“You do own all of me.” She then gasped as he slid inside her, filling her with his hard length.
“I know,” Adam whispered in her ear. She thought about smacking him on the ass for being cocky, but then he whispered in her ear, “Just as you own all of me.”
As her mate made love to her again, a little voice taunted her in the back of her head—her wolf. You don’t own all of him. You’ve yet to give him our mate mark.

My Review

This novella is one of those you really want to read to enjoy a series fully as it's more than simple bonus or side story however it's also one that must be read in order to get to most of it. We do get spoiler for book 1 and 2 and simply if you don't read at least book 1 " Big bad Bite" first it doesn't make sense.

That being said i will try to avoid as much spoiler as possible for those who are new to the story. This story focus on the main couple from the first book Jenna and Adam , though we do get news of a second couple just a bit too, and it's very strongly linked to some events in that first book .

I loved how Jenna and Adam looks to have adapted to each other in those few months and how they know and accept each other fully. It was really sweet to see. That being said if their story is sweet it sure lead to very steamy described scene so be aware of that. I did like Jenna more this time as well even if she is so stupid sometimes. Adam is simply perfect , an alpha male protective but still giving his mate a lot of freedom even to make errors and still being loyal and loving.

Jenna is confronted to a killer during a mission and is hurt which makes everyone think about the situation. I really appreciated to see Kent, her partner, reaction to the events and i do want to discover more about it ( i do wonder what a certain bet was for example)

This is a novella so the rhythm is fast but you are totally immersed in it if you have read the precedents books so it's really enjoyable

Heidi : A " Not-quite" Hellhound Love Story (Magic and Mayhem Kindle worlds novella) by Julia Mills

Hello to all!!!

While checking for smething i discovered that i had reviewed the second novella in this universe "Lola" but not the first one where we actually meet the character for the first time so it will means more post this week but i want to rectify that^^.

As a reminder: Kindle worlds stories aren't available to buy from outside the USA but it can be gifted outside the state territories so not all hope are lost to us.

Happy reading
Publication: 2016
ASIN:  B01MA5MZMV
Genre: paranormal romance
Violence: mild

Language: normal
sex: none
Public: 18+
Source: arc

Description from goodreads :

From the armpit of Hell to Lucifer-only-knows-where, West Virginia (Sue me! I lost the directions.) at the speed of light with my new bestie, Bert the imp and my hooker alter-ego, Lola without a plan or a clue.

Ten days is all I have before the love of my life marries the Princess of Hell and my dreams for a smokin’ ever after go up in flames. It’s DEF CON 666 and this girl is outta time and outta choices.

One of these witches better have a plan to turn this Not-Quite Hellhound into a four-legged, butt-sniffing daughter of Cerberus or Satan himself is gonna make an appearance and we’re all gonna be flambéed.

Time is running out, my fur coat is nowhere to be found and all I can think about is jumping that Hunky Hellhound’s bones…. Hades help us, who does a girl have to kill to get a quad shot, no foam, caramel macchiato in this one- horse town?

My opinion:
Strange, it's my first attempt in Kindle worlds as those are not accessible outside the USA and i wasn't expecting this at all however when i've read this i needed something light, something funny and this story really fit those criteria.

You are expected to take this lightly , second degre but if you do it could mean a great time. Heidi find herself in Hell...won't tell you why ( novella so better be short to avoid spoiler) and it's different that what you may think. While she is learning how to be an effective agent^^ she encounters crazy witches, enamoured imp, and a lot of other curious or funny characters.

However it's not an easy road when she find herself in love with a real hellhound who by the way is promised to the big boss 's daughter Lucy...all that with a second personality Lola in her head speaking bluntly and not the best advisor in the universe. While Heidi try to set everything right, fate doesn't plan to make it smooth for her.

Humour, action , blunt language..;this short story is perhaps not to everyone taste but i spent a good time.

Score:  3/5

Demon Spiral ( Dr Wolf; the Fae Rift book 2) by Cheree Alsop

Hello to all!!!

Since i have a bit of time before people comes to change water pipes ( why i still don't know) i decided to share another review with you from not a new release but a series i take great pleasure reading: The Fae Rift series by Cheree Alsop. Actually 4 books are released so far so  you will probably not have to wait too long to have my opinion on those as it's quite addictive.
Let's start with book 2 though.

Happy reading!
Publisher: Cheree Alsop
Publication: 2016
ISBN13:  9781310202964
Genre: urban fantasy
Violence: strong

Language: normal
sex: none

Description from goodreads :

When the head doctor’s daughter is bitten by a goblin, Dr. Wolf is forced to the edge of his limits to save her life. Other victims show up, turning the chance attack into one calculated to send a message. With the safety of the human race hanging in the balance, Dr. Wolf has to find out how an Archdemon made it to Edge City. The answer could mean life or death for the young woman whose blue eyes and warm smile have stolen his heart.

My opinion:
After loving the first book a lot i was determined to continue this series, it took me a moment but i don't regret it. However, there is one element that bothered me a little...this can't be read as standalone, really can't. Now, i do love to read series in order and i do recommend it but what i mean is that if you start with this one you could feel lost and perhaps even give up which would be very sad so to start well start with book1: Shockwave!

Since we started with the most negative point let see why i do love this book and series. As soon as i remembered a little how the first instalment finished i was immediately immersed into this story because it literally take off where the last one ended. We are immersed into the action which makes us understand even more the characters since most of them like us were thrown into the mess without notice.

I loved to see how the relation between different characters, for example in this one we see police officer we met in book 1 and their attitude is changed. Dartan opens more and we discover what he sacrificed to save our world, Aleric we learn about him as well but he is also learning about himself and it was funny to see a human telling him what he was unconsciously doing . He is terribly loyal no matter how much he suffered but he still thinks he must redeem himself .

I also loved to discover more fae like the kind troll, the grims children and gargoyle as pet ^^.Really it's a great adventure easily read in one sitting...this one has a lot of action so really a page turner and i can't wait to start on the next book ( book 3 &4 are already available so don't wait and start the series if you haven't already done so)

Score:  4/5

Description from goodreads :

The latest in the USA Today bestselling Southern Ghost Hunter series!

Southern girl Verity Long is about as high society as her pet skunk. Which is why she’s surprised as anyone when the new head of the Sugarland social set invites her to join the "it" girls. But this is no social call. Verity’s new client needs her to go in undercover and investigate strange happenings at the group’s historic headquarters.

But while spirits are whispering hints of murder, the socialites are more focused on Verity’s 1978, avocado-green Cadillac. And when Verity stumbles upon a fresh body, she's going to need the long-dead citizens of Sugarland to help her solve the crime. Good thing she has the handsome deputy sheriff Ellis Wydell on hand, as well as her ghostly sidekick Frankie. The bad thing is, the ghosts are now whispering about the end of a certain ghost hunter

My opinion:
I really do love this series and it's so well written that even if you are new to the series you could still enjoy this one as the author does  remind us of the important events that happened to lead to the actual situation.  Still if you can start by the beginning it's too good to miss.

However, let see this specific story first.
Verity has decided to accept her gift and try to make a job of it when Frankie agree to lend a bit of its power which isn't often done without some bargaining. She still believes in him but our gangster has quite a mind of its own though a certain lady is perhaps changing that. On the sentimental side, Verity 's relationship with Ellis is evolving well....at least as long as they are left to their own .

We do learn a bit more about Verity's ancestry and i would be happy to meet Ida, we discover Ellis' mother ....i hated her in book 1 and i still do! That woman is intelligent but such a monster...she knew what her son did but  still has it against Verity even after trying to take her last cent! Now she is acting again and  i so would like to see her punished ( and of course i still want Beau to pay dearly for what he did!) because for her all is about appearance.
We also see a bit more of the south's tradition and i really love that. It's funny to see how the city  forgot his history to change it to what would feel more acceptable....but  i do appreciate that  some try to rectify that like Verity. I must say that i'm curious to see how Verity will manage in those society club.

So for the investigation itself it was really funny, i loved the different ghosts and the rhythm was perfect keeping you glued to the book . You want to know the culprit and to see him (or they) get what they deserve....it can take time ( i mean looks for Beau he sure deserves to be punished but so far he isn't) but i'm sure we won't be disappointed.

There is a lot of humour , Molly and Henrietta are some ghosts you will love, Frankie has some ideas to win money after all for him all is about money generally and if it annoys Verity the better. Romance and i won't tell you more about this part you will have to see. Action, because Verity can't stand by or keep her mouth shut but that's why we love.

Really even if you are new to the series don't hesitate to read this you will spend a great time!

Score:  5/5

Short description from goodreads :

Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?

Elena Demos’s life has been turned upside down. Her mother has passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go to work with two aunts they’ve never met, in the family business they’ve known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn’t bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it’s only their first day on the job.

Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn't be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena’s back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn’t be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?

Claws, love bites and handcuffs - OH MY!

My opinion:
I wanted more of the tigers and i sure got it. This book is my favourite in the series so far, i laughed, smiled sometimes was torn on whose side to support but i really loved this book!

Gage is a tiger so full of himself and so, so feline. He is the alpha and doesn't take a no for answer, he fights with or without claws but never give up however he is also capable of a lot of tenderness and even better admit that he is wrong^^. Also like our real cat he can be patient when we wants and very demanding the next second^^.

Elena is a strong woman and not only physically but deep inside she has a little heart. Taught  by her mother not have any attachment ( except with her sister), she isn't used to  think about finding a man to settled with so when she comes to term with that idea at the same time she is kind of pushed aside it hurt very badly....leading her to act like a b****, sorry but i can't think of any other term. She was hurt by him but first thought about making him suffer by hurting ( and worse) his sister. At that time she lost point for me but thankfully she found her brain again but not after playing bad kind of joke on a very on edge tiger.
She is a good woman though and didn't hesitate to jump in the adventure of going to save someone abroad just because it was the right thing to do. She is protective of her sisters but not only so she is a character you get attached to.

Between  Gage and Elena  the situation is explosive, sexual tension but not only ...they both crave the other but trust must be built first and it's not easy with their past and a certain  tendency of the tiger to stick to his word meaning attached is attached and not a metaphor. That sure leads so some funny situation and some steamy scene.

So as a resume we do have the part of the story focusing on Gage and Elena and that part is kind of complete ( even if we want more  we can be happy for now) but we also have the main story line moving with the trek to Germany and it's consequences. However that part isn't  finished and we are left to wonder the next step, consequences and it makes us happy to jump into book 3 as soon as possible while we can  wait as it's not a real strong cliffhanger...so it's perfect.

This is a series i sure plan to continue as we have another tiger who revealed a bit of himself making me more intrigued and a demon that sure hid a lot of secret.

Score:  4,5/5

Southern Fried ( Kenni Lowry 2) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all!

My computer had some troubles this weekend to connect me online so while it works i will do as much as i can in case it got wonky again.
Tomorrow release the second good in the Kenni Lowry series : Southern Fried. I was lucky enough to get an early copy to give you my opinion on it and really it just keeps getting better so i had to share this when i could.

Happy reading!!!
Publisher: Henery Press
Publication: 2017
ISBN:  1635111870
Genre: cozy mystery, paranormal
Violence: mild

Description from goodreads :

In the South, it’s better when the food is fried and the secrets kept buried…

After the dead body of a beloved Cottonwood resident is found tangled up in an electric fence, Sheriff Kenni Lowry has a hunch that somethin’ ain’t right. Her investigation heats up with a fierce cook-off competition, a euchre game where the intel is sweeter than the brownies, and a decades old family recipe that may just be the proof in the pudding.

The icing on the cake: Kenni is fighting an attraction to her recently sworn-in deputy sheriff, and election season is hot on her tail. When the killer comes after who she holds most dear, even her poppa’s ghostly guidance might not be enough to keep her and her own out of the frying pan.

My opinion:
Wonderful! This story has everything you need a great investigation with a lot of twists, a blossoming romance, lot of humour, the right dose of tension and just that special touch of the South.

Really i loved book 1 but this one is definitively my favourite so far, i had me hooked so i read this in one sitting and while they are more crimes this time it's the characters who got to me.  Duke ...the so cute dog able to see ghost is learning new trick and simply there is no way not to like him. Kenni's jealousy is touching, i loved to see her get more into her sheriff boots, to fight for her place because now she has even more to loose than simply a job.
Finn is still such a gentleman; he is getting more protective of his partner and that was simply wonderful to see.

Finally they is the whole city some characters easy to hate; some we want to be friend with, other we would prefer never meet... they are the soul of Cottonwood and makes this series even easier to love because it's seems so real, so near us that we do want to visit it ( without the murders).

The rhythm is just perfect not a time down, once started you just want to solve all the mysteries or make sure everyone is alright.

if you love cozy mystery this is a must read for sure
